In this chaotic world today, it is important that we take a break and find some time to love ourselves. Due to our hectic schedule, we often do not have the luxury of time to stop and think of ourselves or to spend quality time tending to our own needs.
The weekend is the perfect time for some ‘I, me and myself time’, and to rejuvenation our spirit and re-energize.
Here are some of my weekend plans to unwind and relax:
Plan a relaxing bathFirst thing first, plan a long relaxing bath on a Friday evening. The whole week’s rushing out of the house in a hurry, often leaves us compromised on our long indulging bath. Oil your hair; use a good body oil to massage yourself. Throw a little bath salt in the tub, put on some light music that helps you relax. Take a glass of wine, if required, and just spoil yourself in a relaxing 45 minutes bath. Movie Marathon
Once you are done with your beauty bath, grab some popcorn or nachos, and curl up on your sofa. Watch a bunch of movies you’ve always wanted to. It’s great to watch one movie after another alone by yourself or with your best buddy.

Spa DayThis one is my favorite. After a hectic week, it is but natural that you will want to have a relaxing time. So switch off your phones and go off to your favorite spa. Get ready to pamper yourself and get yourself ready for the maddening week ahead. My personal choice of a spa in Delhi is #Alaya. They have a host of spa facility which includes oil based body therapies as well as dry body therapies. An additional plus point is their good ambiance, extremely polite and customer oriented staffs. If you take my advice their Shiatsu massage (dry massage) and Traditional Tibetan Kunye massage (oil based) are excellent.
Gossip with your BBF
The best stress buster of all times has and will always be a good-long-gossip with your best buddy. Cuddle up in your bedroom or your sofa and chat about that one annoying person in your office that you so much dislike. There will always be a woman who dresses up just a little bit too weirdly you want to talk about. And of course, we all have that boss who is just a bit too bossy. In a nutshell, just gossip, bitch and have fun with your girlfriend and have a good laugh.
Throw a Pajamas party with your girlfriends
Irrespective of what age you are, it’s an absolute fun and a good way to spend time with your buddies. Ask your pals to wear their favorite pajamas, and gather at your or a friend’s house. Whether it’s twister or dumb charades, playing games with your girls is the perfect way to de-stress and relax. Bringing out the teenager in you again can be totally thrilling.
Indulge in Gardening
Nothing can compare to the calm and serene feeling of spending time with your plants. Whether you have a huge garden or just a few pots of plants in your balcony does not matter. Getting up early morning , watering your plants and watch them as they grow every week has its own rewards.
MeditateMeditation is an excellent way to focus and silent your mind. It leads to higher levels of awareness, inner tranquility and peace no matter what’s going on around you. It also helps you sharpen your concentration power and makes you more comfortable with yourself and your environment. Find a quiet corner in your house or you can even go to a nearby park if you wish. Wear comfortable clothes, light some incense in-case you are in your house and relax.
Visit a lake
Whether the lake is far away or in your neighborhood, it is definitely worth the trip. If you want to enjoy the silence, ensure that you go before the rush hours. I have not yet visited any lake in Delhi but I plan to do that soon. However, I still do remember my experience in Nakki Lake in Mount Abu. It is said that this lake was dug by Hindu Gods using their nails (nakh) hence the name Nakki Lake. It was an experience of its own kind.
Grab your camera if you are one of those who love to capture the moments and the beauty. In case you don’t have a camera, don’t worry, you can use your cell phone to click away!!
Read that Mills & Boon againDig in your collections of books and grab that old Mills & Boon. Get lost in the romance and fall in love with that imaginary tall dark and handsome guy from the novel. Enjoy the thrill of reading without the guilty feeling of being caught.
Go See Some Live Music
This weekend staring this Friday plan out to go to a live music concert or a pub and enjoy the live music. If there is a place in your area that plays live jazz or world music, it will be nice to go to a place that has some sitting arrangements, where you can sit down with your drink, enjoy and be all classy like. Because you will have something to watch, you are way less likely to feel uncomfortable even if you are going alone.
Cook a simple dinner and dine with your close buddies
Plan a simple dinner with your buddies or you can even ask your friend to come with one dish each. That is how we usually end up doing in my friend circle. Besides saving time it also creates excitement and involvement from the other side. Switch off all the lights. Spread a carpet in your terrace or your balcony instead of using your usual dining table, and light some candles.Put some nice music and enjoy the meal as you chatter away.
Spend this weekend, doing what you love – and the week ahead will be more enjoyable and fruitful!!
