Hi, friends. For a long time, I wanted to share my journey of writing or starting my own blog with you all. I will try to pen down the details of my journey and my leanings so that it may benefit you if you are trying to start something similar yourself.
As a kid, I always liked writing poetry. It started as fun when I was in class 6 and from then till my college days I wrote many poems. After I started my corporate career I was so engrossed in it that I could find no time for it until I actually hardly remembered how much I loved writing.
So how or why I started my blog, or more precisely why I re-started writing after eleven years? It all started when a friend suggested that I should put my poems online. To this, I laughed, “I use to write poems a long time back, yes I have written many poems but who would be interested to read them?” But what he said after that left an impression on me “Don’t post for others … do it for yourself because you write them and you like it! It has got nothing to do with others.” Hence, my journey started.
I needed to understand and decide how to share my poems or writings online. I was totally new to this world of blogging. Yes, I had heard about blogs. I read few blogs once in a while, but I was a total stranger when it came to the entire concept of blogging. Luckily for me, a good friend knew few tricks and was willing to help me out with it. This is another reason I want to share my journey with you all. I was lucky someone was willing to help me and, in the same way, I want to help those of you who are newbies.
My journey was an interesting one; I am technically not a sound person neither do I have any particular interest in learning about the technical mombo jumbo or the ambition to excel in it. Setting up the blog was one thing and deciding what to post besides my poems was another. As I was on the threshold of this new journey, little did I realize that my blog was going to give me a doorway to the outside world, a means of reaching out to the people whom I did not even know.
When people appreciate you for the things that you have written and when friends come up to you telling you, they could identify with a poem or an article you have posted, trust me it is a very good feeling. You start gaining confidence in your style of writing (which is important if you take your writing seriously).
The beginning of the journey was the decision to start my blog, but decision along is nothing if no action is taken. This holds true for all areas of our life. So the next step for my journey was to decide a name for my blog that I identified with. I sat down with a couple of my friends and started thinking about names I wanted. The first clarity needed, was if I planned to post only my poems or I wanted to post my other writings as well. I talk a lot, a lot I mean. Mostly I talk about my feelings for certain things, concepts, my beliefs. Hence, I decided I will pen down my talks, thoughts, things I like and enjoy. Hence, the name RamblingCraft came into my mind, because it has to be a craft to drift from one thing to another and yet not lose the way, the focus.
To be very honest, I have not yet found a concrete essence, a direction, the heart for my blog, but I am enjoying this journey and experience of writing what I want to. Putting my views forward and getting the acknowledgment from my readers that at some point of time they too can identify with my feelings. That is more than what I had hoped for when I started writing!! Earlier I wrote because I wanted to, I loved to, now I feel a sense of responsibility for what goes up in my blog because the world is reading and I would want to contribute in a constructive way possible.
Like I said, in the beginning, I want to help those who too want to set out on this journey of writing and sharing online. I will be posting a series of articles on Blogging and related information that will help those who want to begin their journey as well. Do stay connected, you will hear from me soon.
