Those Good Byes

This poem written on July 12, 1999 is a romantic one .Written for one of my then crush, it now brings a smile on my face when I remember how my friends would giggle whenever he would pass by or when we saw him in our school premises. Studying in a Convent school till my ICSE, it used to be a different thrill seeing some handsome opposite gender loiter in our territory. I am filled with memories of my friends-Payal, Mridula Pradhan and Prisa Pradhan when I read this poem. I miss all our mischievous moments and wish I could have them back, at the same time, I am filled with gratitude for those treasured memories I have shared with them.

Those Good Byes

Saw you again

Perhaps in my dreams….

Never did I know I could feel this again..

The familiar pain mingled with joy

Oh! How I wish you were actually mine.

But alas it cannot be so

For I do know you were destined to go.

But why do you keep returning

Why do you make me look back?

Only to make me realize

How worthless is my existence without you?

You smile in a way that I never did anticipate

And when a light I see in the dark

You turn your Face away!!!

But this time I want to be sure

That this feeling I feel is true,

And I want you to prove to me

You come to stay and not to go!

Because I don’t want to remember the past

I don’t want to remember the cries

I don’t want to remember telling all those good byes!!!
